Instrument hire & purchase scheme

For hire

Thurrock Music services have a large bank of instruments for hire to those taking lessons with them. They also run an assisted musical instrument purchase scheme.

Their brass range consists of baritone horns, cornets, euphoniums, french horns, tenor horns, trombones, trumpets and tubas.

The range of woodwind instruments available includes bassoons, clarinets, fifes, flutes, oboes, recorders and saxophones (soprano, alto and tenor)

The range of stringed instruments available includes violins, violas, cellos, double basses, guitars (electric and acoustic). All stringed instruments are available in various sizes. They also have a selection of keyboards for hire.


All instruments are free to hire for the first term (subject to tuition with Thurrock Music Services), then the following fees apply per term:

You can collect and return instruments from their offices between 10am and 12.30pm on Tuesdays and between 2pm to 4pm on Thursdays.


All instruments are insured under a blanket all risks policy arranged through British Reserve. Insurance is included in the hire price. The hirer must keep the property in a good state of repair and take all reasonable precautions to prevent accidents, loss or damage.

Assisted musical instrument purchase scheme

The scheme is available to students of school age who are receiving tuition through Thurrock Music Services and intend to continue for a period of at least 6 months after purchase.

Through this scheme, instruments can be purchased VAT exclusive for educational purposes. Full payment is required before an order is placed.
